an investigation of physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities in space environments— 1st phase exploring which ones fade or completely disappear, and which transform into unexpected advantages or even superpowers | 2nd phase a bold inquiry into how inclusive design can reshape the way we perceive ability, difference, and human potential

Our thesis - A disability exists only when the environment fails to adapt.
From Disabilities to Superpowers is a bold inquiry into how inclusive design can reshape the way we perceive ability, difference, and human potential. The research challenges traditional assumptions and asks: what if traits labeled as “disabilities” on Earth become assets in orbit? Are there disablities or just differences of abilities?
As space architects, we examine how radically different environments reveal radically different truths. In microgravity or isolation, some limitations dissolve—while others unlock unique ways of thinking, perceiving, or adapting.
This research invites architects and designers to go beyond compliance—to imagine a world that doesn’t just accommodate difference, but designs for it from the start. It’s not about minimizing disability—it’s about maximizing possibility.
